Last day in Russia posted at 11:02:34 on 07/18/04 by David Arnaud
That's it, we're leaving Russia tomorrow morning to get back to Munich, and from then drive to France. Spending a month in Siberia, one of Russia's most remote and isolated regions, is something I will remember for a long time. And the surprises kept popping up until the very last days ! Over the last weeks, we already dealt with the class V/VI rapids, the trans-siberian train, the thousands of mosquitos and ticks, the never-ending portages and hikes, a 14 m waterfall, the russian vodka, the raw fish for breakfast, the Lada shuttles, the former military helicopter and so on... but yesterday evening, we were still to face the Stratosphere, Irkutsk's and most probably Siberia's biggest night club. It's located on Karl Marx Street, which despite its name gathers mostly luxury shops, trendy bars and discotheques. I tell you, this country is full of contradictions ;-) But wow ! It proved to be a quite incredible experience - one more in an already long list. Loud pumpin' music, gogo dancers, tens of fashion victims dancing like goddesses, strong machos trying to impress the very same goddesses (I don't include ourselves in this category), a cheerful and warm atmosphere, all this kept us busy until 6'30 in the morning, when this incredible nightlife temple closed its doors. Yep, the image of Siberia that I had in mind before coming slightly changed ! Coming back home also means that the first pictures of the trip will appear here in the next couple of days, so stay tuned. And no, no footage available from last night ! I'm off now, I think I need a little rest... Comments:No comments yet Add Comment:This item is closed, it's not possible to add new comments to it or to vote on it
