New Riot Flair video clip

Hey all,

I've just added a new video clip to the videos page. Check it out! This clip features Riot's latest boats, the Flair. It was shot on both holes (at a local artificial course) and waves (footage from Lyon courtesy of Mika Hyla).

The Flair is basically an evolution from the Air. The few improvements made over the Air result in a more balanced boat, more stable on its tail, and easier to control in a backsurf or when landing blunts and other big aerial moves. The Flair keeps the Air's amazing speed, and its pronunced edges make carving a real pleasure. As for the Air, two sizes exist, 47 and 57 gallons. The Air was already one of my all-time favourites, now it gets even better. What more could I ask for!? Also, the Flair will be available in stores by the end of the summer.

Long time friend and photographer Paul Villecourt just unveiled his new website www.outdoor-reporter.com

There are hundreds of really nice pics to see online, and the best improvement is that you can now order posters from the photos you like. Just chose a format, select your picture(s), and you'll have it in your mailbox after a few days. Isn't it great?



Paul is certainly one of the most accomplished photographer in whitewater sports and more generally outdoor activities. You've seen his work in basically every paddling publication out there, and now you can enjoy most of it online as well!

Great news from Turkey

Hey all,

A few weeks ago I competed in the Coruh Extreme Race in Turkey, on one of the most beautiful rivers I've ever paddled (report in the making!). This incredible river has been threatened by a dam project for many years. The potential dam would flood most of it as well as the city of Yusufeli where we stayed during the event. Fortunately, I just received this email from Dave Manby, the event organizer:

"I have just heard, today Monday 4th July that the Yusufeli dam has been cancelled! Whether this was because of the legal case against it, or the cost, or the difficulty in finding a suitable alternative site for the town, I do not know. Maybe our extreme race had some influence, maybe we were a little late in the day I do not know but the decision was only made last week."

I feel extremly relieved, as all the people who've been there before. Yeeeepaaa!!!

First contact with Norway

This is it, I'm in Norway for a month. I've already spent a week there, competing in the Voss Extrem Week, a cool multisports event that is a must for adrenalin junkies from all around Europe and eventually a bit further. Base-jump, kayak, mountain bike, climbing, hanggliding, etc... there's something for everybody here - including me.

Powerade Outdoor Games: the Heroes take it all!

Tightly wrapped in our outfits, my four friends and I won the first Outdoor Games held during the third week of June in Interlaken, Switzerland. The innovative event concept was a huge succes. All participants really enjoyed their stay in this beautiful region, while filming and showing their sport the best they could.

This is what will keep me busy in the months to come, a new movie I'm working on. If you've been reading this page regularly, you know that I've been travelling around the world quite a lot recently, and now the time has come to share on DVD all the nice footage I've brought back.

There will probably be less updates here for some time and more on the In-Flux website, but anyway you'll find something to keep you entertained ;-)

"Wild Water Adrenaline" video game : release date and videoclip

Wild Water Adrenaline, the kayak & raft video game I've been involved in, has been postponed several times already. However it seems that it will finally be released beginning of July, after being inspected by Sony for the final quality controls.

There's a video clip to give you an overview of the game, that you can download by clicking here (12 Mo). BUT BEWARE ! This clip was edited somewhere around last december, and 4 or 5 monthes of development later the game looks way better, especially the animation, which is all but smooth in the clip. The version I tested last February looked much better already.

Busy weeks to come!

After spending nearly 6 months abroad in 2004, I thought 2005 would be a quiet year. Well, the coming weeks might well prove me wrong!

Tomorrow I'll be heading to Val Sesia in Italy for the traditional Teva Extrem Mountain Games. Some coverage of this cool event can be found on http://xackers.net (good job Krusty!).

I'll also probably visit Turkey for the first time later in the month, since Dave Manby is setting up what sounds like a great festival on the Coruh river on May 23rd/29th.

Then it will be time to go to Switzerland and the city of Bremgarten for the Waves & Wheels festival on June 10th/12th, just prior to the Outdoor Games (13th/19th).

Right after that, I'll fly to the city of Voss in Norway for a Salomon-sponsored event named the Extrem Week (June 20th/26th). I'll probably stay for a few weeks after the festival to enjoy the great rivers the area offers, and do some filming for my next movie "In-Flux".

As you can see, the coming weeks look a bit boring for me... Hehe ;-)
