Element is incredible for roundhouse cutbacks and a few other things besides. I think we'll see similar slashes that the pro surfers achieve. The comfort is good at arse and feet but it is tippier than the squashtail so if you buy one you'll need to be prepared to pad out to within an inch of your bits (more like microns but anyway). The squashtail is still my favourite in terms of feel and allround ability for a super fast carvy surf crossover but the element has it in terms of size range for paddlers and comfort. The element is awful big though and I say this as an awful big (relatively) paddler.

Cool... I remember testing the Flash with David at Riot - same kind of boat as the Elelment, but in 2002. Unfortunately Riot refused to make the boat, and it wasn't until I got to Dragorossi that I was able to make the Squashtail. I've been convinced that this is the future of freestyle for a long time now - its just that until another company ALSO made one, there was no chance of the idea taking off. Remember the Disco - when JUST riot had this kind of boat nobody was interested. Only after the G Force and EZ came out did Disco sales really take off. Hopefully the Squashtail/Element will do the same for "speed frestlye" as the Disco and EZ did for "bouncy freestyle".

Here is a video from 2005 of the Squashtail:

http://www.2imagine.net/blogger2005...

http://www.2imagine.net/blogger2005...

And my favorite

http://www.2imagine.net/blogger2006...

I'm super stoked the Element is here on the market!!!

Yeah I totally agree with you there hasn´t been a boat that would be revolutionary AND paddlable for a long time. The new concept of a blend of surf and rodeo kayak looks really nice. I actually think it might be the choice for wave events (next World Champs in Thun...?) I wish I could test it as a C1...
